Trempeleau County

Trempeleau County was founded on January 27, 1854 from Buffalo County, Chippewa County, Jackson County and La Crosse County. The county was named after the Trempealeau Mountain (from the French for "mountain with its foot in the water"), a bluff located in a bend of the Trempealeau River,which flows through the county.
